なつかしい未来商店街創設支援事業

一般社団法人高田SUMMIT（仮）（設立準備中）

歴史ある街陸前高田の復興に向けて、コミュニティカンパニーが立ち上げられた。日本の古き良き心が残っているこの街の担い手である子供たちが自分のふるさととして誇りを持てる街づくりの一環として商店街構想が組み込まれている。街の郊外にある3000㎡の土地に地元老舗店舗を構えつつ、老若男女誰もが集い憩う場を創出する。地域へのアセスメントを行い、地元の要望、つまりソフトをカタチにしていく作業をふまえ、共感と対話の場づくり（コミュニティスペース）を行い、新たな「けせん」＝なつかしい未来創出を先駆けとする。

This project wants to tackle the issue of land first, as a basis for the architectural housing solutions. Ishinomaka area as other regions in Tohoku, has various family settings dispersed and displaced or even lost. Our approach is that we plan to reconsolidate the families together through mutual understanding amongst the displaced persons. Among the displaced persons are different people with different capacities, it is these capacities that we want to capture and use a s spring board for reconstruction. in this way, the reconstruction is initiated from within but implemented from without by the architects. Hence the IDEAHOUSE concept.
We also have looked into the possibility of transition from temporary housing to rental and eventually to ownership of land and house. In this case full benefits are achieved by the occupants.
Ishinomaki was selected due to it proximity to Onagawa region, and the residence of Ishinomaki have the capacity to contribute in terms of man power and accommodation. Also by our reconstructive endeavor, we are able to empower the local craftsman in rebuilding their own city. Ishinomaki had the paper industry that was depilated by the tsunami rendering many people jobless. our project will provide jobs to many displaced persons.

We also plan to work closely with the local authority in the implentation process. Our goal is to have a WIN-WIN, ALL INCLUSIVE and MULTI PLATFORM approach to the project.

"Seeing is believing!"

In spite of the massive media exposure immediately after the events, awareness of the disaster in Tohoku has mostly faded out of conscious.

This project aims to raise awareness in both directions, to find out who is doing what (and where), and what opportunities, needs, and gaps exist. Conversely, it will give the residents of Tohoku a voice and offer advice and design services - if asked for by the community.

The approach combines virtual technology with feet on the ground, connecting residents of Tohoku with people in Tokyo and ultimately with the world. The tool we propose is a mobile station, carried through the disaster-struck region by boat and by trailer; moving through every city from south to north.

The station is built from a standard container, modified to be expandable. Taken to areas affected, it invites local residents; it acts as a scanner, or satellite for collecting knowledge about who is working in each area and what should be done for the communities. An anchor station based in Tokyo connects the station with people in the metropolis, becoming a conduit for awareness through broadcasts virtual meetings and exposure.


The station is composed of three parts

Learning:
A library contains storage of literature in every field related to disaster as well as resilient urbanism.

Meeting:
A space for talking, interviews, and working meetings. It becomes the setting for open discussions and forums with the government and professionals on equal footing.

Connecting:
Internet access, storage of material collected by the scanner. Collected information is uploaded to an open and interactive web-archieve. The satellite-station, located in the disaster zone, works as an open office, inviting the population, and local relief organisations to appropriate it. The anchor in the metropolis makes use of high traffic areas in the city, becoming a gallery and a conduit that works bi-directional.

Outline:
- Staff won't be living in container, but homestaying with locals in order to connect to the community and contribute to the local economy
- Beside the permanent staff, experts, researchers, or activists from in- or outside of Japan will be rotating in, in order to make use of the container's infrastructure.

慎重に選考を重ねた結果、「ＯＳＨＩＫＡ　ＨＯＵＳＥ～牡鹿半島鮎川浜、漁協女性部のための作業・コミュニティスペース作り～」を最優秀賞として、「赤浜地区にある仮設住宅の雁木で育てる小さなコミュニティ」を次点として採用されることになりました。おめでとうございます。（２０１１年１１月９日付）

After the deep deliberation, we have reached our decision to award the first prize to "OSHIKA HOUSE", and the second prize to "Akahama Covered Arcade". Congratulations! (on November 9th, 2011)

It is time to Build Back Better in Tohoku

２０１１年３月１１日に東北地方を襲った東日本大震災の被害にあわれた地域の復興のための援助金をお出しします。建築士などの専門家と提携している非営利団体、諸地方団体または個人の方々などへの支援をしたいと考えております。地域の人々のニーズに応えることによって、その地域の再興を促し、環境的、社会的にサステイナブルな（永続的な）東北地方の将来を構築することがこの支援の狙いです。

We have funding support to build innovative community facilities in response to the Great East Japan Earthquake and the tsunami that hit the Tohoku region on March 11th. We are looking to fund community building projects from NGOs, local groups and/or individuals that are partnered with architectural professionals. The aim of this project should be to regain normalcy of community by addressing people’s needs, and create environmentally and socially sustainable community for better future of Tohoku.

Our first Request for Proposal (RFP) is for the reconstruction or building of a facility located in Tohoku region. The budget for projects, including design and construction, should be between $20,000 to 60,000 USD and would engage the community in the reconstruction activities. The project should also allow project partners to also participate in volunteer builds. The RFP also required the community partner to have land tenure on the property or the ability to gain tenure. No. It is our aim to empower and support the local architectural profession. We are requiring that a Japanese licensed professional be part of the proposal. While we want to support sustainable and safe solutions, we also believe in the power of well-designed spaces. Your project should be an anchor in the community. However, if you have everything on your application ready but don't know any architect in your area, you can submit without an architect on your proposal. If your proposal is chosen, we'll help you finding an architect and/or a contractor. Submit today.

Yes. Economic stability is as important element of the building. For us, an unused structure is the most unsustainable structure. In a number of our currently funded projects around the globe, there has been a bakery, an internet cafe or tuck shop as part of the building. Submit today.
